Introduction 宗旨
The “Outstanding SME ESG and Business Performance Award” honors SMEs that leverage ESG principles—spanning environmental, social, and governance—to seize business opportunities and drive innovation. Recognizing milestones like securing new orders or developing cutting-edge solutions, this award motivates SMEs to invest in ESG-driven improvements, fostering competitiveness, sustainability, and lasting value creation.
【傑出中小企ESG及商業表現獎】旨在表彰中小企業透過努力實踐ESG（環境保護、社會責任和企業管治）而獲得的商機（如新訂單或成功開發新產品或服務等）。這獎項亦鼓勵中小企業持續投放資源實施ESG升級轉型，提升競爭力並探索更多綠色商機，長期為企業創造核心價值。
Objectives 目標
As ESG gains prominence in corporate growth, the valuable contributions of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) often go overlooked. While most ESG awards focus on large corporations, SMEs remain in the shadows, reducing their opportunities to highlight their achievements in driving ESG initiatives.
To bridge this gap, we launched an exclusive ESG award for SMEs, showcasing their efforts and enabling industry recognition while boosting their visibility to potential clients. This platform empowers SMEs to unlock opportunities, such as collaborating with publicly listed companies, while advocating sustainable development and fostering collective progress in the corporate sphere.
ESG（環境、社會及公司治理）對企業成長的重要性日益突出，但中小型企業（SMEs）的貢獻常被忽視。大部分ESG獎項聚焦於大型企業，削弱了中小型企業獲得認可與展示成果的機會。
為彌補這項缺口，我們特別設立專屬中小型企業的ESG獎項，以表彰其在可持續發展中的努力，更提升其業界知名度與影響力。這平台鼓勵中小企業分享成果、吸引客戶並探索與大型企業合作的可能。
此獎項不僅肯定中小企業價值，更具促進企業共同進步的意義。藉此，我們希望推動可持續發展理念落實，深化企業間合作，為責任商業環境的建立貢獻力量。
Eligibility 參加資格
- Participating companies must hold a valid Hong Kong business registration certificate, have substantial business operations in Hong Kong for no less than 18 months, and are not shell companies.
- Participating companies must be unlisted companies registered in Hong Kong in accordance with the (Cap. 310) Business Registration Ordinance.
- Participating companies are allowed to apply for both award categories.
- Participating companies must complete the ESG questionnaires provided by the award organizer.
- Participating companies must meet the government’s definition of “small and medium-sized companies”, that is, employing less than 50 employees in the non-manufacturing industry, or less than 100 employees in the manufacturing industry.
- 參賽企業必須持有有效的香港商業登記證明，並於香港境內有實質業務營運不少於18個月的非空殼公司。
- 參賽企業必須是按照《商業登記條例》(香港法例第310 章) 在香港登記的非上市公司。
- 參賽企業可參加多於一個獎項類別。
- 參賽企業須填妥由主辦單位提供的ESG問卷。
- 參賽企業須符合政府「中小企」的定義，即非製造業聘請少於50名員工，或製造業聘請少於100名員工。

- To participate, companies must submit a registration form along with: (1) the Hong Kong Business Registration Certificate, and (2) the participating company’s logo (JPEG/AI format, minimum 300dpi) to smeesgaward@hsu.edu.hk. If files are large, divide them across emails or share downloadable links.
- A donation of HK$3,800 to support the development of the Start-up and SME Resource Centre of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
- To participate in each award category, companies are required to contribute HK$3,800 to support the development (including student activities and development) of the Start-up and SME Resource Centre of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.

- Registration closes on September 15, 2025.
- Upon confirmation, participants will receive an ESG questionnaire, requiring a company profile PowerPoint (maximum eight slides, under 5MB) detailing the participating company’s ESG practices and related business opportunities (e.g., innovations in products/services).
- Submit all materials by October 10, 2025, 6:00 pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Evaluation Criteria 評審準則
The evaluation criteria assess participating companies based on the ESG related questionnaires, focusing on Environmental Protection (E), Social Responsibility (S), and Corporate Governance (G). This holistic approach measures their effectiveness in upholding corporate social responsibilities and driving sustainable development.
Companies must also summarize how their ESG efforts over the past two years have improved operational performance, especially in “Corporate ESG Practices” and “Business Opportunities.” The framework underscores the integration of ESG principles into strategies, promoting alignment with global sustainability goals while fostering growth, innovation, stewardship, social welfare, and transparent governance.
評估標準採用ESG問卷，聚焦於環境保護（E）、社會責任（S）及公司治理（G），全面衡量企業履行社會責任及推動永續發展的成果。此框架協調企業策略與可持續發展目標，強調ESG原則整合。
企業需總結過去兩年ESG努力對營運績效的助益，特別是在實踐與商機上的進展。同時展現成長、創新、管理責任與透明治理等綜合能力，彰顯其在塑造未來永續發展中的角色。

Entry fee 參賽費用
- While there is no registration fee, participating companies must donate HK$3,800 to support The Start-up and SME Resource Centre at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong to help fund students’ initiatives and the development of the Centre.
- To register, participants must submit a completed application form and a crossed cheque payable to “The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong – Foundation.” These documents should be mailed to Room D748, Lee Quo Wei Academic Building, Yuen Campus, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, Hang Shin Link, Siu Lek Yuen, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong.
- 報名費用全免。
- 參選企業須捐獻港幣 $3,800 以支持香港恒生大學初創及中小企資源中心的發展 (包括學生活動及發展)。
